Security Officer

Purpose Statement

The job of Security Officer is done for the purpose/s of providing support to the educational process with specific responsibilities for the safety and welfare of students during classroom and non-classroom activities; minimizing the frequency and/or severity of harmful incidents; and communicating observations and/or incidents that have a potential impact on the general well being of students, school personnel, and/or visitors.

This job reports to Assistant Principal

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

 

SKILLS are required to perform multiple tasks with a potential need to upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: administering first aid; operating standard office equipment and using pertinent software applications; preparing and maintaining accurate records; and using a two - way radio.

 

KNOWLEDGE is required to perform basic math; read a variety of manuals, write documents following prescribed formats, and/or present information to others; and analyze situations to define issues and draw conclusions.  Specific knowledge based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: methods of investigation; and record keeping.

 

ABILITY is required to schedule activities and/or meetings; collate data; and use basic, job-related equipment. Flexibility is required to work with others in a wide variety of circumstances; work with data utilizing specific, defined processes; and operate equipment using defined methods. Ability is also required to work with a diversity of individuals and/or groups; work with specific, job-related data; and utilize a variety of job-related equipment. Problem solving is required to identify issues and create action plans. Problem solving with data requires independent interpretation of guidelines; and problem solving with equipment is limited to moderate. Specific ability based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: adapting to changing work priorities; communicating with diverse groups; maintaining confidentiality; working as part of a team; and working with detailed information/data.

 

Responsibility

Responsibilities include: working under limited supervision following standardized practices and/or methods; providing information and/or advising others; operating within a defined budget. utilization of some resources from other work units may be required to perform the job's functions. There is a continual opportunity to have some impact on the organization’s services.

 

Working Environment

The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, some climbing and balancing,  and some fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 10% sitting, 60% walking, and 30% standing.  The job is performed under temperature extremes and under conditions with some exposure to risk of injury and/or illness.

Athletic Equipment Manager

Purpose Statement

The job of Athletic Equipment Manager is done for the purpose/s of providing support to the instructional program with specific responsibilities for inventorying and maintaining athletic equipment, identifying equipment requirements of students; and assisting student athletes and coaches during practices and/or events.

This job reports to Assistant Principal

Specific skill based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: preparing and maintaining accurate records; adhering to safety practices; operating equipment used in maintaining and repairing athletic equipment; and using pertinent software applications.

KNOWLEDGE is required to perform basic math; understand written procedures, write routine documents, and speak clearly; and understand multi-step written and oral instructions.  Specific knowledge based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: general knowledge of athletic - related equipment.

Flexibility is required to work with others; work with data utilizing specific, defined processes; and operate equipment using defined methods. Generally the job requires 25% sitting, 50% walking, and 25% standing.  The job is performed under temperature extremes and in varying atmospheric conditions.
